MUST BE SHIPPED BY TRUCK FREIGHT-ADD $25 CRATE FEE + TRUCK FEE (NO DISCOUNT) HAND LAID FIBERGLASS Fiberglass panels were originally made of press molded fiberglass, which is smooth on both sides. While it is more expensive to manufacture press molded fiberglass, it is usually a better quality panel, stronger, and looks better on the reverse side if it shows (such as an inner fender). Most reproduction fiberglass is made of hand layed fiberglass, which is cheaper to manufacture, but in some cases, is the only way the part is available. It is smooth on the side that shows, but has fiberglass strands showing on the reverse side. Not all panels are available in both press molded and hand layed fiberglass, but we have tried to offer both when available. Originally GM made the bodies in section and put them together with bonding strips. One piece front ends are all the pieces, but made as one piece so there are no bonding strips, but are only available hand layed.
PLEASE NOTE: It is sometimes difficult to fit a new hood on a front end that is 25 + years old. Over the years the front end sags down due to age and the weight of the headlights, radiator, etc. When installing a new hood, it is usually necessary to be able to shim & lift up the front end. Even then, there can still be alignment problems on the sides of the fenders, so body work may also be necessary. It is usually not an issue with the new hood, it is with the aged body of the Vette. If you cannot fit the new hood to your car, it can be returned, but the customer is responsible for return freight charges, and there will be a 10% restocking fee.
