BROOKVILLE ROADSTER  STREET ROD FIREWALL MOUNTING PIN SET - Part Number SRMP-9
Description: Ford Firewall Insulators are made for the make, model and year of the car or truck specified. They were made between 1932 and 1948 using an oil impregnated cardboard and featured a unique chicken track embossed texture on the cover surface. After a number of years, these upholstery pads become dry and brittle and begin to disintegrate. Various owners may have installed after-market heaters, radios or other accessories so they may have extra non-factory holes. All of our patterns are based on out-of-the-car originals that someone has sent to us for duplication. Application: Restoration Vehicles, Street Rods and Customs. Materials Used: ABS plastic with the original embossed Chicken Track grain. We had special tooling made so that we could make these firewalls look like the original. There is no finer quality. The ABS plastic material is easily vacuum formed with heat and duplicates the original look and texture exactly for cars built between 1932 and 1948. ABS plastic is very tough, yet flexible, and does not show scratches or scuffs. Authenticity: Not a single Ford owner has ever reported a point loss in a concours judging competition as a result of installing one of our firewall insulators. We have gone to exacting lengths to ensure that each of our Ford products will look and fit just like the original. Color: All Ford firewall insulators are black. Just a word about the look of your old firewall versus a new one; the new firewalls have a soft surface sheen. The firewall in a car built in the 1930s or 40s is now at least 50 years old and is dirty and dingy. When it came off the assembly line, it was crisp, clean and sparkling. Restoration Vehicles: Most holes are punched in the cover and through layer(s) of insulation. The materials are bonded together for easy installation and the firewall insulator will arrive ready-to-install. Street Rods and Customs: All of our firewall insulators can be ordered without holes or you can specify custom cutting and punching of the original holes for your specific vehicle for that smoothie-look. We can also add a layer of high-tech Quality Heat Shield to a custom firewall insulator for extra performance when big engines go into small spaces and produce a lot of extra heat. Punchouts: Many firewalls have OEM punch-outs for special equipment. These special holes are marked or scribed on the surface of the cover--just like they were originally. They can be easily identified and drilled, or cut, for special equipment. Included with each firewall is an instruction card detailing procedures for installation and modification. Should you need to drill a hole or use one of the punch-outs, we also include a piece of plastic. Use this material to practice making a hole so you get the feel of the material. A Little Early Ford History Tidbit: While it is generally assumed that Ford invented the chicken track texture material used on their firewall insulators and other interior panels, it was actually Dodge who first used this texture on some of their firewalls--four years before Ford began making firewall insulators. We have also seen chicken track used on some Chevrolet Military truck headliners and firewalls in the early 1940s, probably a result of the combined efforts among the industry giants for uniform manufacturing during the war effort.
