Admit it. You're experimented with the low-carb thing in the last couple of years. Sure, healthy living is one thing, but dropping a few pounds also lightens the load on your car's engine at the drag strip. With the ZZ454/440 and its aluminum heads, you get more power while saving approximately 100 pounds compared to an iron-head 454. The ZZ454/440 uses aluminum oval-port heads with big 2.25 - inch/ 1.88 valves and smaller chambers to make 440 horsepower - 15 horses more than the iron-head 454 HO, but with the same bottom end. That bottom end include a Gen VI four-bolt block, a forged steel crank, forged connecting rods and forged pistons. A roller camshaft with .510/.540 lift specs delivers a satisfying lope at idel and does a great job of clearing the chambers. Delivered as an assembly complete with water pump, balancer, intake manifold and 14-inch automatic transmission flexplate, the ZZ454/440 only requires your carburetor, ignition and starter to complete. GMPP's line of valve covers and chrome accessories is available to dress the big-block to your taste. With the ZZ454/440, you'll shave almost 100 pounds off the nose of your car or truck - and you can go back to eating your hamburgers with a bun. Installation Notes: Requires addition of carburetor, starter, distributor and ignition system not included. Clutch linkage boss is cast into block, but must be drilled and tapped. When using cast iron exhaust manifolds, lower head bolts may need to be replaced with bolts with shorter heads, for clearance. Comes with 14-inch automatic transmission flexplate; use flywheel P/N 14096987 and 11-inch clutch assembly for manual transmission. Intended for 1979-and-earlier emissions street vehicles or all off-road vehicles. Not intended for marine applications. I
