There are just three things you need to know about the ZZ572/620: 1. Yes, that's 572 cubic inches of displacement. 2. Yes, it runs on pump gas. Serioulsy, no kidding around - pump gas. 3. Yes, it's available from GM Performance Parts. If you really need to know more, here's the skinny: The ZZ572/620 crate engine - with its distinguishing orange block and valve covers - is the ultimate big-block street engine. It has a strong, four-bolt block created specially with 4.560 - inch bores for the 572 displacement and it's filled with forged everything; crank, rods, pistons - you name it. Doing the breathing is a set of aluminum rectangular-port heads that were, again, created just for the 572. The lope to the .632-lift camshaft will put a lump in your throat, too. The Deluxe fully dressed engine is the way to go, as it comes complete from the oil pan (with windage tray) to carburetor, including an 850-cfm Demon four-barrel, HEI distributor, red spark plug wires, aluminum short-style water pump and automatic transmission flexplate. Everything is engineered to work toegether. Did we mention it makes 620 horsepower and 650 lb. ft. of torque? If too big is just your size, the ZZ572/620 is the engine you've been waiting for. Installation Notes: Clutch linkage boss is cast into block, but must be drilled and tapped. When using cast iron exhaust manifolds, lower head bolts may need to be replaced with bolts with shorter heads, for clearance. Requires addition of starter (not included). Requires electric fuel pump because Gen VI tall-dec block has no mechanical pump boss. Comes with a 14-inch automatic transmission flexplate. Requires externally balance flywheel for manual transmission applications. Intended for 1979-and-earlier pre-emissions vehicles and all off-road vehicles. Not intended for marine applications. You do have a strong transmission and rear axle, don't you? Note: Distributor with melonized steel gear must be used with long blocks and partial engines with steel camshaft, or engine damage can occur. GMPP HEI distributor P/N 93440806 is recommended.
