Short Deck Bowtie Racing Block This is a CNC-machined cast iron Bowtie block with 8.325 inch deck height that can be machined to 8.200-inch (standard block deck height is 9.025-inch). Block is designed for small-cubic-inch drag racing, road racing, or restricted oval racing applications. Siamesed block has 3.980-inch cylinder bores that can be bored to 4.190-inch with a minimum cylinder wall thickness of 0.225-inch. The Camshaft has been raised to 4.953-inch to use belt-style timing drives. It is intended for use with competition-style oiling system modifications and a dry sump to provide optimum oil flow. It is designed for a remote oil filter, two-piece rear oil seal, and early style oil pan. Water pump holes are spread for big-block pump. Lifter bosses are 0.220-inch taller than production blocks. Main bearing diameters are 2.300 inches. Cam bearing holes can be bored for roller bearings. Note: Not drilled for lifter holes or cylinder head bolt holes. Water pump must be raised if 6-inch or larger balancer is used. Block uses Olds Aurora V-8 design bell housing (maximum flywheel diameter is 12.25 inches). Block will accept all Chevy V-8 small block cylinder heads. Pushrods must be shorter to attain proper valve train geometry with cam and lifters.
