Big Block DRCE Drag Race Competition Engine. This GM Performance Parts DRCE 2 bare big block is a redesign of the original DRCE. The block was designed for 500-cubic-inch Pro Stock drag racing. This DRCE 2 block has a raised camshaft - 5.750 inches from the crank centerline. The deck height is 9.525 inches (but it can be reduced to 9.00 inches), the distributor hole was moved rearward, and the weight has been reduced 11 pounds from the original DRCE. Bore spacing of 4.900 inches allows the use of a big bore with short-stroke pistons and crankshaft for enhanced performance. Semi-finished cylinders are bored to 4.500 inches, with a maximum recommended bore of 4.700-inches in diameter. The cam tunnel will accommodate a 2.166-inch bearing. Head bolt holes are not drilled, so either Pontiac S/D, Olds DRCE, or Chevrolet bolt pattern heads can be used. Hybrid rear flange bolt pattern will accommodate a Chevy, Pontiac, or Olds bellhousing. Four-bolt 8620 steel main bearing caps are used. The oil pan rails are spread to clear longer stroke crankshafts. Note: The block is not drilled for lifter holes.
