Cylinder Head Cast iron Gen V & VI. Gen V and VI cast iron head for high-performance off-road 454 and 502 engines from 1990-2000. This bare head requires 2.18-inch intake and 1.88-inch exhaust valves, with 7/16-inch stems. Open combustion chambers are 118cc. Intake ports are rectangular. Note: Use of the adjustable Mark IV cylinder head is not recommended with the Gen V engine. Changes in the configuration of Gen V coolant transfer passages allow coolant to seep into the lifter valley when the Mark IV head is used. All Gen VI blocks will accept Mark IV heads. Mark IV camshafts, water pumps, intake manifolds, distributors, and clutch housings can be used with the new Gen V engines.
