METERING BLOCK UPGRADE - Part Number 34-1
Metering Block Upgrade, 2-Bbl Circle Track Carburetor For 350 CFM 2-Bbl (List 7448) When the rules require a "stock" (unmodified) metering block. Externally it looks original (note: may not be the original stamped ID number), however internally it has been modified to lean out the high RPM fuel curve. Further performance improvement is only achievable with additional external modifications. GENERAL: Two barrel carburetors used on racing engines offer a unique challenge to teh tuner. Carburetor size restrictions are intended to be an "equalizer" or simply as a means to slow certain classes down. The primary problem is even modestly built engines can easily out-run a small two barrel carburetor. By out-run we mean the engine airflow requirement far exceeds the original design capacity of the carburetor. When that happens, the air/fuel ratio gets progressively richer, robbing horsepower. These modified metering blocks help to correct that problem through recalibration. When compared to a stock unmodified carburetor, these metering blocks add high RPM horsepower by flattening the upper RPM fuel curve.
